Celebrating 10 Years: Founder’s Day at SCU

Founder’s Day at Summit Christian University (SCU) is a meaningful occasion set aside to honor the founding vision of the institution, celebrate God’s faithfulness, and reflect on the university’s mission in Christian higher education. This year marks a significant milestone as SCU celebrates its 10th anniversary, representing a decade of dedication to biblical scholarship, ministry preparation, leadership development, and Christ-centered academic excellence.

This special celebration recognizes the obedience, perseverance, and spiritual foresight of Dr. D. Keith Roach, whose response to God’s calling led to the establishment of Summit Christian University. What began as a vision to provide biblically grounded higher education has grown into a learning community committed to equipping students for service in both ministry and the marketplace.

Summit Christian University was founded with the purpose of creating an institution where theological education and academic rigor work together in harmony. From its beginning, the university has emphasized the authority of Scripture across all areas of study while preparing Christian leaders for ministerial and vocational service. The vision also included making faith-based higher education accessible to students who desire both spiritual formation and academic instruction within a Christ-centered learning environment. Through prayerful planning and faith-driven leadership, SCU was launched to address the growing need for biblically grounded and academically structured ministerial education.

During the past decade, Summit Christian University has experienced steady development and institutional growth. The early years were marked by dedication, sacrifice, and careful planning as the university worked to build a strong academic and administrative foundation. Under the leadership of Dr. Roach, SCU established several undergraduate programs along with a Bible Certificate program designed to provide foundational biblical education. The university also expanded its online education platforms, allowing students from various locations to pursue Christian higher education through flexible learning opportunities.

In addition to academic program development, SCU has strengthened its learning resources and student support services. The university has developed library and virtual research resources to assist students in their academic work while ensuring that coursework continues to reflect high standards of biblical scholarship and academic excellence. These efforts also support the university’s ongoing commitment to meeting accreditation standards related to academic quality, learning resources, and institutional effectiveness. Summit Christian University is currently pursuing accreditation and anticipates reaching this milestone in February 2027.

For ten years, the mission of SCU has been carried out through programs designed to equip students with both knowledge and practical ministry preparation. Coursework integrates biblical instruction with leadership development, ethical decision-making, pastoral care, and counseling foundations. This approach ensures that graduates are prepared to serve effectively in churches, ministries, communities, and professional environments where Christian leadership is needed. Instruction has been offered through traditional classroom settings, extension programs, and virtual learning environments, expanding access to students while maintaining a Christ-centered educational experience.

Founder’s Day also provides an opportunity to recognize the lasting leadership of Dr. D. Keith Roach. His vision, dedication, and commitment to Christian education have shaped the theological identity and mission of Summit Christian University. Through his guidance, the institution has developed strong governance, sound academic programs, and a clear doctrinal foundation. Dr. Roach’s leadership has also helped mentor and prepare many individuals who now serve in pastoral ministry, evangelism, Christian counseling, business leadership, and other areas of community service.

While Founder’s Day celebrates the achievements of the past decade, it also points toward the future. Summit Christian University continues to pursue growth in enrollment, expanded academic programs, and increased opportunities for students. Plans for the coming years include the development of a physical campus, additional scholarship resources, and broader ministry partnerships that will extend the university’s impact both locally and globally.

As SCU celebrates its 10th Founder’s Day, the university community gives thanks for God’s provision and for the faithful leadership that made this vision a reality. What began as a step of faith has grown into an institution dedicated to preparing Christian leaders through biblical truth and academic excellence. As Summit Christian University enters its next decade, it remains committed to its founding mission of equipping students for lifelong leadership and service through Christ-centered higher education.
